Laya warmly welcomes you into her world of compassionate counseling. As a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, she has established a strong foundation in the field of mental health, having earned her Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Texas. Laya is dedicated to creating a warm and non-judgmental space for her clients. Her therapeutic approach centers around cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), a proven and effective method for understanding and addressing client concerns while empowering them to achieve their desired goals. Laya also utilizes child-centered play therapy, recognizing the importance of allowing children to process and heal in their natural ways within a safe and consistent playroom environment.

Laya has had the privilege of working with clients of all ages, from children and adolescents to adults and older adults. Her professional journey includes working at the UNT Counseling and Human Development Center and Baylor Scott & White Institute for Rehabilitation. Laya has worked with a wide range of concerns, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, trauma, chronic illness, and family/relationship dynamics. Moreover, Laya possesses specialized knowledge in supporting individuals with brain injuries, addressing issues such as impaired cognition, language disorders, and memory challenges.
